Ford’s Theatre Society has the highest level of respect for the privacy of its valuable donors. To reflect our commitment to honor your rights, we have developed this Donor Privacy Policy to inform our patrons how their personal information is safeguarded.

Financial donors to Ford’s Theatre Society provide name, contact information, and standard payment information including, in many circumstances, credit card data. We protect your information in a variety of ways, whether you donate online or offline.

We will not sell, share or trade our donors’ names, mailing addresses, telephone numbers, e-mail addresses or any other private information with any other entity. In addition, we will not send mailings to our donors on behalf of other organizations, unless a donor has given us specific permission to do so.

We will only use the contact information of our donors for the following purposes:

  • Distributing gift receipts
  • Thanking and recognizing donors for their gifts
  • Informing donors about upcoming events and activities
  • Internal analysis and record keeping

Donor names are publicly associated with their donation unless the donor explicitly chooses the “anonymous” field when donating, or otherwise notify us of their wish to remain anonymous. Properly anonymized donor information can be used for promotional and fundraising activities.

We use industry standard safeguards to protect your information. Many donors use credit cards for donations. We protect the security of credit card transactions using several measures such as encryption, access controls, network firewalls, and physical security. These measures make it extremely difficult for anyone to intercept the credit card information you send to us. When we work with other companies to process credit card transactions, those companies also use encryption and other appropriate security measures.
