Have you ever wondered what would happen if you took a single step closer, reached forward and touched a museum painting? Playwright Jessica Dickey imagines exactly that in her world-premiere play, The Guard, opening at Ford’s Theatre in fall 2015. When a museum guard makes contact with a famous Rembrandt painting, a remarkable story spanning centuries of art and human experience ensues. We sat down with Jessica this spring to talk about her inspiration for The Guard. Watch the video below to hear more about the show.
Ford’s Theatre is excited to offer The Guard as part of the Women’s Voices Theater Festival—a celebration of original works by female writers in more than 50 of the Washington region’s professional theatres this fall.
