Mission Statement

Ford’s Theatre explores the legacy of President Abraham Lincoln and celebrates the American experience through theatre and education.

Ford’s Theatre is committed to creating an equitable, diverse, inclusive and accessible environment for all artists, staff, students, educators, scholars, theatregoers, visitors and volunteers who come to our campus and for all those who engage virtually.

As a cultural institution and historical landmark, we strive to make lasting and impactful change that prioritizes and highlights inclusivity in our storytelling and in our organization as a whole. With renewed commitment, Ford’s Theatre has reexamined our practices, reassessed our vision for the future and is taking steps to evolve. We affirm the following principles that sustain and guide our institutional work.
