The Ford’s Theatre campus will be closed on May 21 and June 3, 2012.
The campus includes the museum, theatre, Petersen House and Center for Education and Leadership.

Casting for Necessary Sacrifices

David Selby David Selby (as Abraham Lincoln) previously appeared at Ford’s Theatre as President Abraham Lincoln in the world premiere of The Heavens Are Hung In Black, which coincided with the reopening of the theatre in 2008 and the bicentennial of Lincoln’s birth.

Selby’s long stage career includes multiple productions for Broadway including The Heiress and The Eccentricities of a Nightingale and several shows Off-Broadway and at the Kennedy Center. His regional credits include performances with the Alley Theatre, Goodman Theatre, Hartford Stage, Manhattan Theatre Club, McCarter Theatre Center, Public Theater, Shakespeare Theatre Company, American Shakespeare Festival, Pasadena Playhouse and others. Selby created the role of Quentin Collins on television’s Dark Shadows and Richard Channing on Falcon Crest, starred opposite Jane Alexander on HBO’s series Tell Me You Love Me and recently guest-starred on CBS’ Cold Case.

His many film credits include Up the Sandbox with Barbara Streisand, Night of Dark Shadows, Dying Young with Campell Scott and Julia Roberts, White Squall and The Social Network. An accomplished playwright and novelist, Selby’s most recent book Lincoln’s Better Angel, reflects on the personal impact of war. In the late 1990s, Selby performed the role of Abraham Lincoln in the New York, Charleston and Washington, D.C., performances of his stage play Lincoln and James. Additionally, Selby has narrated several programs for L.A. Theatre Works, National Public Radio and the BBC.

Selby received his BS and MS degrees from West Virginia University, where he was recognized with a Lifetime Achievement Award, and holds a PhD in Theatre from Southern Illinois University.

Craig Wallace ( as Frederick Douglass) has previously appeared at Ford’s Theatre in Sabrina Fair and Jitney. His D.C. credits include multiple productions with Arena Stage, Folger Theatre, Shakespeare Theatre, Signature Theatre, Round House Theatre and Woolly Mammoth. He received a Helen Hayes nomination for his role in Signature’s production of Angels in America Part 2. Regional credits include Everyman Theatre’s The Soul Collector (a world premiere) and productions with Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey, Actor’s Theatre of Louisville, Shakespeare Santa Cruz and Hangar Theatre, among others. Wallace received his BFA from Howard University and his MFA from Pennsylvania State University. He also trained at the Royal National Theatre in London.

 


Michael Kramer
(as George Stearns) made his Ford’s Theatre debut as Edwin Booth in The Heavens Are Hung In Black. His regional credits include productions with TFA, Kennedy Center, Everyman Theatre, Theatre Alliance, Signature Theatre, Theater J, Round House, ACTCo., Woolly Mammoth and Shakespeare Theatre Company. He has narrated more than 200 audio book titles and received multiple AudioFile Magazine Earphones awards. He received an MFA from Catholic University.
