Ford’s Theatre National Historic Site (Museum, Theatre, Petersen House) and the Center for Education and Leadership will be closed to the public on Friday, May 22, and Sunday, May 31. In addition, Tuesday, May 26 – Saturday, May 30, the museum and theatre will be closed to the public, while the Petersen House and Center for Education and Leadership will remain open.
NEW ACOUSTIGUIDE AUDIO TOURS AND PERFORMANCES OF “ONE DESTINY”
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Ford’s Theatre Society announced that visitors may now enhance their experience at the historic site by renting an Acoustiguide Audio Tour featuring stories, character voices, sound effects and historic photos. Acoustiguides are available in adult and youth (age 8-12) versions and may be reserved through Ticketmaster when purchasing advance timed-entry tickets. Additionally, daytime performances of the one-act play One Destiny by Richard Hellesen will resume April 4-May 21. Ford’s Theatre presents evening performances of One Destiny June 14-July 2, 2011. Part of the History on Stage series, the 30-minute One Destiny presentation captures the first-hand accounts of those present at Ford’s Theatre the day of Lincoln’s assassination.
Acoustiguide prices are $5 for individuals, plus any Ticketmaster service charges. They may be reserved in advance by calling Ticketmaster at (800) 551-SEAT. Patrons also may reserve Acoustiguides on the date of visit in person at the Ford’s Theatre Box Office, based on availability.

Learn about Lincoln’s assassination from two men who were there. Actor Harry Hawk and Ford’s Theatre co-owner Harry Ford revisit the events of April 14, 1865. As they reconstruct the sequence of events, they grapple with the question: Could John Wilkes Booth have been stopped? This 30-minute presentation explores the key facts of the assassination while capturing the emotions of that fateful night. Featuring costumed actors.
Performances of One Destiny
April daytime performances begin April 4 and run Monday-Friday at 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., and Saturdays at 10:30 a.m. (no performances April 25). May performances are Monday-Thursday at 10:30 and 11:30 a.m., and Saturdays at 10:30 a.m. In June and July, evening performances of One Destiny run Tuesdays at 5:30 p.m., and Wednesdays-Saturdays at 5:30 p.m. and 6:45 p.m. Performances begin 15 minutes after entry to the theatre.
Tickets for One Destiny
Tickets are required for all performances of One Destiny. Tickets are $7.50 in advance or $5.00 the day of the performance. Tickets for April and May are currently on sale. June and July performances will go on sale March 21. Tickets can be reserved through Ticketmaster at (800) 551-SEAT or by visiting fords.org. Ticketmaster fees apply.
