Operation Discovery

Operation Discovery is a discount ticket program that provides low-cost opportunities for recognized groups to attend Ford’s Theatre productions.

Participation in Operation Discovery is limited to organizations that focus on helping at-risk and economically challenged members of the D.C. metro community.  For school groups, this means that at least 30% of the student population must qualify for free lunch. The organization must be able to organize their group, provide transportation and chaperons (if children are present), and pay the cost of $10.00 per ticket.

Operation Discovery tickets are available for weekday (Tuesday-Thursday) matinee and evening performances as well as Sunday evening performances. Each organization is limited to thirty (30) patrons per visit. Multiple visits are allowed per production, with the exception of A Christmas Carol. If children are present, the organization must provide one adult chaperon for every ten (10) children. These chaperon tickets will be charged at the Operation Discovery rate of $10.00. Additional chaperon tickets will be charged a price of 20% off the regular price of the ticket. All orders are based on availability.

Groups looking to qualify for Operation Discovery must submit a formal letter of request to Ford’s Theatre. Each letter should be written on company letterhead and explain how the organization helps at-risk and economically challenged members of the D.C. metro community. Please also include the name of performance, date of visit, time and number of tickets needed. Letters can be sent to the following address:

Ford’s Theatre Group Sales
514 10th St. NW
Washington, DC 20004

Note: Groups will need to submit a letter for every request.
