Students from Washington-area schools will perform on Ford’s Theatre stage

Washington, D.C.— Ford’s Theatre Director Paul R. Tetreault announced today that Betsy O’Brien Anderson will join the company as Director of Development in June 2013. As Director of Development, Anderson will provide strategic organizational and administrative leadership for the fund development efforts of the historic theatre, museum and Center for Education and Leadership.

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Twelve Students from five states and the District participate in the second-annual Ford’s Theatre National Oratory Retreat, May 3 through 5 in Washington, D.C. During the weekend, teachers and their select students from Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Pennsylvania and the District, will visit local historic sites, connect with their peers and perform speeches on the Ford’s Theatre stage in a culminating performance on Sunday, May 5, at 12:30 p.m.

Ford's Theatre Society programming (including the musical Hello, Dolly!, the Investigation: Detective McDevitt walking tours and the one-act play One Destiny) is not affected by sequestration and will continue as scheduled. We do not expect any changes to operating hours or National Park Service ranger programming at the Ford’s Theatre National Historic site for spring 2013. The National Park Service is exploring a number of plans to satisfy the automatic spending cuts caused by sequestration.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Ford’s Theatre Society and Signature Theatre co-present the Tony-winning musical Hello, Dolly!, directed by Eric Schaeffer, March 15 through May 18, 2013, at Ford’s Theatre (511 Tenth Street NW, Washington, D.C.). The production features Broadway’s Nancy Opel in the title role and Edward Gero as Horace Vandergelder.
